Manufacturing BC's Future Together

“Manufacturing BC’s future together”

Founded in the summer of 2014, the Manufacturing BC started as a coalition of like-minded manufacturing industry associations with a common vision to promote a world-class manufacturing sector in British Columbia. Today, the Alliance is the province’s largest association of manufacturers.

The membership includes companies and organizations in the engineering and design, material handling and logistics, and fabrication areas. Associate members include people-based organizations that train and develop skilled workers for high-paying jobs and community-focused chambers of commerce and boards of trade that recognize the significant economic contribution to their cities derived from manufacturing, directly and indirectly.

The Alliance’s purpose is to promote dialogue and encourage collaboration and joint-action amongst a variety of industry stakeholders to ensure a strong and competitive manufacturing sector in BC. The Alliance speaks and acts as one voice on priority issues to ensure that all British Columbians continue to benefit from the economic growth, high-value outputs and high-paying jobs found across all types of manufacturing in the province.

The Alliance works with partners to create and deliver solutions to make industry more competitive. These services include advocacy for policy and regulatory change; skills training and employment programs to fill labour shortages; productivity, innovation and technology programs, and safety.

“Manufacturing Matters”

In British Columbia, in any given year, manufacturing represents 8% to 10% of the provinces’s GDP and approximately 30% of the business tax revenue paid to government. Manufacturing is the second largest employer in BC goods producing sector with almost 13,000 companies employing almost 400,000 jobs directly and indirectly.

Value-added manufacturing represents almost 65% of BC’s exports.

Manufacturing matters! Let’s manufacture a strong future together.
