“Manufacturing BC’s future together”

Founded in the summer of 2014, the BC Alliance for Manufacturing is a coalition of like-minded manufacturing industry associations with a common vision to promote a world-class manufacturing sector in British Columbia. Those with an interest in ensuring a strong manufacturing sector include businesses in the design, supply, material handling, fabrication and logistics areas; people-based organizations that train and develop skilled workers for high-paying jobs; and community-focused chambers of commerce and boards of trade that recognize the significant economic contribution to their cities derived from manufacturing, directly and indirectly.

The Alliance was created to promote dialogue, collaboration and joint-action amongst a variety of industry stakeholders. The Alliance speaks and acts as one on priority issues to ensure that all British Columbians continue to benefit from the economic growth, high-value outputs and high-paying jobs found across all types of manufacturing in the province. As skills development is the largest barrier to growth, the Alliance also operates the BC Manufacturing Skills Institute.

In British Columbia, during 2015, manufacturing represented 10% of the provinces’s GDP and approximately 30% of the business tax revenue paid to government.

Manufacturing is the second largest employer in BC goods producing sector with almost 13,000 companies employing almost 400,000 jobs directly and indirectly.

Value-added manufacturing represents almost 65% of BC’s exports.

Manufacturing matters! Let’s build a strong future together.
